The Man Personally

Bob Windt was defined by a restless curiosity and an unwavering belief that anyone could build their own dreams with a bit of plywood and perseverance. Outside the workshop, he was a soul of quiet intensity, finding joy in the simple physics of the world around him.

His personal philosophy centered on mentorship—not just as a teacher, but as a fellow explorer. Whether he was tinkering with a new propeller design or sharing a story from his Air Force days, Bob approached every interaction with respect and a genuine desire to see others succeed. His hobbies were often his work, yet he found profound peace in the natural landscapes his hovercrafts allowed him to traverse.

The Spirit of a Maverick

Bob’s life was guided by a profound belief in the power of curiosity and the necessity of hands-on experimentation. From his time in the Air Force to the creation of Universal Hovercraft, he championed the idea that anything could be improved with better aerodynamics and a little grit. He often shared that failure was just another structural test, a philosophy that turned his Cordova workshop into a global hub for innovation and mentorship.
